After studying a BA in Fine Art (Sculpture) at the Victorian College of the Arts Brendan has exhibited across such spaces as the Carlton Hotel, China Heights and Someday Gallery. When out of his studio, Huntley spends his time fronting garage rock band Eddy Current Suppression Ring. He also manages four Weet-Bix a day, sometimes five if the mood takes him.
In Order of Appearance presents an exploration of the human psyche from artist Brendan Huntley. Through sculptural and two-dimensional form, multiple personalities are evoked and the facade of the everyday revealed. Brendan's works are concerned with the beauty of the mundane, dealing with ordinary things like teapots, perceptions, ideals, jugs, fame, music, jars, worship, ski masks, lipstick, hair gel, hair dye, balaclavas, foundation, pornographic magazines, plastic surgery, brand new shoes, birth, kicking goals, claustrophobia, gingivitis, cancer, vitamin C, reproduction, age, varicose veins, bow ties, business suits, denim jeans, skirts with pleats, high heels, career, work, emotions, death, promotions, faces, beards, baldness, personalities, race, replicas, creation, wrinkles, hammers, humans, weapons of mass destruction, transplants, earth, terror, man walking on the moon, flags, fraud, aliens, vessels. From painted jar faces to ceramic masks, a complexity in the works' simplicity is strongly apparent.
