Dylan Martorell has been exhibiting and performing for over ten years. In all its forms Martorell's work is influenced by the natural world, the elements, geographical oddities, human rituals, ethnography and mythology. Music and sound, from field recordings to ritualised performances, play a major part. The combination of sound and image is at the heart of a body of work that has developed into a constantly evolving multidisciplinary practise. Martorell's works seem to inhabit a highly disciplined style of detail and improvisation coupled with a magpie junkyard aesthetic influenced by his travels in North Africa, South East Asia, Japan and Mexico. A major touchstone is a keen interest in the histories of various musical diasporas. This provides a rich source of musical and aesthetic inspiration not only for musical ideas and instruments but also for the rich imagery of real and imagined histories and old world mythologies and superstitions they contain.
Panter Cluster Rimbone presents a new series of sound sculptures and intricate hand-drawn prints prints from Martorell exploring ethnographic themes.
